Sony today released a list that details which of its previous generation smartphones (specifically those that were released back in 2012) will be receiving new updates.

Majority of those models were running Gingerbread 2.3, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.1 Jelly Bean during the time of their launch and will be receiving Android 4.1 or 4.3 in the coming months.

The 2012 Xperia phones that will have Android 4.1 as their final OS include the Xperia SL, Xperia Ion, Xperia Acro S, Xperia J, Xperia Go, Xperia S and Xperia P. On the other hand, the Xperia U, Xperia Tipo (including the dual-SIM version), Xperia Sola, Xperia Miro and Xperia Arc S will remain at Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Lastly, Sony is still looking into bringing Android 4.4 KitKat to three models – the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V. Sony says their KitKat update is still “Under Investigation”, so owners of these three smartphones should certainly keep their fingers crossed.
