New Nokia Windows Phones Arrive September
- Windows Phone codenamed Phi and Arrow
- Phi is new flagship Lumia phone
- Set for Sept. 5 launch
Nokia is planning to unveil two Windows Phone 8 devices codenamed Phi and Arrow on September 5 during a joint event with Microsoft, just a week before Apple’s launch of the iPhone 5.
Some reports are citing the Phi as the flagship phone of the Lumia series touted to sport a 4.7-inch AMOLED and curved display. It is also claimed that Phi will have a microSD slot for expandable memory, thinner than Lumia 800 and 900, and seen sporting LTE connectivity.
Some pundits are suggesting that the high-end Phi phone will be powered by dual-core Qualcomm chipset with an exterior unibody frame made of polycarbonate body. With a unibody frame, users no longer get the chance of opening the phone and access battery or hidden microSD card slot. The Arrow handset is thought to be a mid-range offering.
Nokia’s Lumia 900 was a solid start in the Finnish company’s attempt to claw back marketshare it has lost to Samsung and Apple.
