The laptop was designed for use in schools and features a MIL-STD specification, rubberised edges, a Gorilla Glass-covered screen and a spill-resistant keyboard. Dell is giving educational institutions to choose from a variety of options from processors, displays and RAM to name a few.

For starters, the laptop will be offered in different CPU configurations with the cheapest having a Celeron processor while the most expensive can get an Intel Core i5 CPU. RAM on the other hand starts at 2GB and goes up to 8GB. The batteries and disk drives on the other hand come at four- or six-cell batteries and hybrid or SSDs respectively. Dell is also offering a touchscreen version that comes with an Intel Core i3 processor.

The Dell Latitude 13 Education Series is now available for pre-order and will hit retail stores on April 17. Pricing starts at US$399 for the Celeron version and can go up to US$769.
