Pre-orders are now open for Samsung's Galaxy Note 7, the company's latest flagship phablet. Outright, Samsung (online and brick and mortar stores), JB Hi-Fi, and Harvey Norman are all ranging the phone at an asking price of AUD$1,349. These pre-orders all include a 256GB microSD. On contract, Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, and Virgin are offering the Note 7, and are all throwing in the 256GB microSD card bonus.

Telstra's Note 7 plans start at AUD$95 per month (AUD$55 per month plan with a AUD$40 handset repayment fee). This includes 1GB of data, AUD$550 of talk, and unlimited text. AUD$105 per month (AUD$70 per month plan with a AUD$35 handset repayment fee) includes 2.5GB of data, AUD$1,000 of talk, and unlimited text. AUD$110 per month (AUD$95 per month plan with a AUD$15 handset repayment fee) includes 10GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$145 per month (AUD$135 plan with AUD$10 handset repayment fee) takes data to 15GB.

Optus' Note 7 plans start at AUD$71 per month (AUD$40 per month plan with a AUD$31 handset repayment fee). This includes 1GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$88 per month (AUD$65 per month plan with a AUD$23 handset repayment fee) includes 3.5GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$96 per month (AUD$85 per month plan with a AUD$11 handset repayment fee) includes 6GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$104 per month (AUD$100 per month plan with a AUD$4 handset repayment fee) includes 15GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$120 per month (AUD$120 per month plan with no handset repayment fee) includes 20GB of data, and unlimited talk and text.

Vodafone's Note 7 plans start at AUD$74 per month (AUD$40 per month plan with a AUD$34 handset repayment fee), with 0.5GB of data and unlimited talk and text. AUD$92 per month (AUD$70 per month plan with a AUD$22 handset repayment fee) includes 6GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$95 per month (AUD$80 per month plan with a AUD$15 handset repayment fee) includes 8GB of data, and unlimited talk and text.  AUD$112 per month (AUD$100 per month plan with a AUD$12 handset repayment fee) includes 15GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$130 per month (AUD$130 per month plan with a AUD$3 handset repayment fee) includes 20GB, and unlimited talk and text.

Some of Vodafone's aforementioned plans currently include bonus data. This offer will last until August 30.

Virgin's Note 7 plans start at AUD$67 per month (AUD$30 per month plan with a AUD$37 handset repayment fee) with 300MB of data and AUD$300 of talk and text. AUD$77 per month (AUD$50 per month with a AUD$27 handset repayment fee) includes 3GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$88 per month (AUD$70 per month with a AUD$18 handset repayment fee) includes 7GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$92 per month (AUD$80 per month with a AUD$12 handset repayment fee) includes 8GB of data, and unlimited talk and text. AUD$104 per month (AUD$100 per month with a AUD$4 handset repayment fee) includes 15GB of data, and unlimited talk and text.

While competition between telcos is quite fierce, on paper, Optus wins when it comes to bang for buck. It's AUD$104 and AUD$120 per month plans are the cheapest way to get truck load of data and a Note 7 on a contract in Australia. Virgin is home to Australia's cheapest Note 7 plan at AUD$67 per month, but offers very little in terms of data and call allowances. However, its midrange AUD$92 per plan edges out the competition in terms of data inclusions. Of course, Vodafone's AUD$5 per day roaming is an attractive proposition for frequent travellers, and Telstra's network alone is going to be enough to sway some.

The Note 7 will go on sale at August 19, with pre-orders running until August 18.
