Five cool home-grown Aussie gadgets

Uamp
Uamp co-founder Joseph Chehade doesn't believe people are getting the most of their music when they're listening to it on a smartphone, laptop or MP3 player; manufacturers are restricted by size and cost limitations, so the amplifiers built into these devices are often less than ideal. Bridging the connection between your smartphone and your headphones, Uamp is a tiny amplifier with five times more power than the amp in an iPhone. According to Chehade, it can even improve the sound quality of cheaper headphones, such as the generic white buds that come with every Apple product.

Uamp raised a staggering AUD$296,998 on Kickstarter. If you missed out during the campaign, you can pre-order one for AUD$65. It is estimated that Uamp will ship in August.
